A 2 drum Shovel Yarder built for UPHILL operations complete with a “LIVE SKYLINE”

This long-range Shovel Yarder is designed to operate either a standard grapple carriage or a tandem grapple carriage.

The Live Skyline functionality enables the operator to tension and de-tension the Skyline at the same time coming in on the mainline or going “out” on the haulback line. The LS 500 is designed to be placed at the top of the hill to skyline timber off the hillside. The large Shovel yarder complete with a pivot boom for easy lowbed transport, has an operating range of up to 500m.

The LS 500 is usually mounted on larger excavators in the 30-38t range, making for a stable machine under a tall tower, which is needed to create “lift” for Skylining.

This unit is quite comfortable in the 15 to 40 DBH range with the ability to Skyline timbera long distance.

The Skyline can tension to 18t, the mainline can pull 4-8t with a managed payload of 2t under a 1t grapple carriage.

With the inception of these units in 2021, they can be seen working on various plantations in South Africa, and Chile.

The LS 500 is piloted via joystick with full proportional control and integrated drag, braking and overload systems.

Our system is fully designed, manufactured and fitted based on the excavator carrier selected by the customer.

The latest versions of the Shovel Yarder systems incorporate built-in operator safety systems which ensure safe and proper cable and payload management, this means safer and more productive machines.

Be careful of local “home built” machines that are not built to ISO manufacture standards, and that do not have the proper approvals.
