Field Training
Our onsite training focuses on the effective use of the equipment supplied, and centers around the technology and best practices.
If you understand how your machine works, you become a better operator a better team and a better crew.
Our shovel yarder and cable yarder training covers safe setup and operation of both systems for steep-ground extraction.
Highlead sessions cover spar or tower setup, mainline and haulback rigging, and partial suspension where one end of the log stays on the ground. Skyline training covers standing and running skylines, carriage setup, full or partial suspension, and tailhold and anchor selection.
Operators practise corridor layout, line tension, and controlled inhaul and outhaul on both highlead and skyline systems.
Our winch-assist training covers safe setup and use on steep ground, with the cable supporting traction rather than replacing machine stability. Anchoring covers choosing, setting and testing machine, stump and multi-point anchors before work starts.
Redirect training covers rub trees, stumps and diverted pulls, including lead angle and rope friction. Uphill and downhill work covers tension settings, shock loading and keeping a stable lead on the face.

STEEP SLOPE
Having the URUS team train our crew on winch assist techniques has been invaluable, we have increased our anchoring safety and improved our machine stability on the slope which means more wood
Joel - Gesfor
Our yarding numbers were low, there are a lot of people out there who sell themselves as experts, but my experience is that the URUS guys actually understand how the machine works, and how the planning should look like. Massive help
